T-Shirt Quilt Order Information

T-Shirt Quilts are a wonderful way to take all those shirts you have stuffed in all the corners of your life and have them out where you can enjoy them and their memories every day.

**  I am sorry but I do not make quilts from any other clothing (ie: memory quilts), just T-Shirts at this time.

I offer several sizes as well as 2 T-Shirt Quilt styles (sashing with or without Cornerstones) for you to choose from.

FAQ’s:

 – They can get pretty heavy as they are constructed of 3 layers.  The top layer is of course your t-shirts, the middle layer is batting and the backing is a 100% Quilting Cotton fabric.  All 3 layers are then quilted with an Edge-to-Edge computerized quilting design of your choice and then a binding is added to the edge.

 – I use Brewer’s 50/50 Bamboo/Cotton Batting in my T-Shirt Quilts which is the same batting I use for my Longarm Quilting Customers.  You can get more information on this batting here.

 – You may choose just sashing, which is a 2″ strip of 100% Quilting Cotton that coordinates with your T-Shirts or Sashing and Cornerstones.  Cornerstones are 2″x2″ squares of fabric that go in the middle of where 4 squares meet.  These are generally used to give your quilt a little more splash of color and are optional.

 – Your T-Shirts will be cut into 12″x12″ squares and you can choose to use the back, the front or both sides of your T-Shirt.  Each square is charged individually.  For very large shirts, it is possible that the design will be larger than 12″x12″.  If this happens I will work with you as to what part of it you would like to be part of the 12″x12″ square.  For any t-shirt that is smaller than 12″x12″ we will have to discuss how you would like to handle it.  There is an additional charge to “piece” your smaller t-shirt into the 12″x12″ size and the cost will be added to the final invoice.

 – I use 100% Quilting Cotton fabric for the Sashing, Cornerstones, Borders, Backing and Binding.  Sashing is 2″ wide and is between each of the blocks and rows.  I use a 3″ wide Border and when possible I will use a 108″ wide backing fabric.  If I do not have a suitable 108″ backing then the backing will have a seam where 2 pieces of 44″ wide fabric are sewn together.  The binding is machine sewn on back, flipped to the front and machine sewn.

 – You will need to decide what color fabric for your sashing, cornerstones, border, backing and thread.

 – Fabric and thread colors are best decided when the fabric/thread and the t-shirts are together.  I will take your preferences into consideration but the hue of the color is best decided in person.  I usually take pictures and text them to help determine this, but pictures can distort colors.  I will do my best to get the best hue based on the main color you choose.  Thread is extremely tricky and can act like a chameleon.  As I do with my quilting customers I recommend you let me pick out the thread color, I always check with you before I begin quilting regardless.

 – I do not use a dense quilt pattern and I prefer my quilting “sit in the background”.  For examples of my quilting please take a look at my Gallery.  You may use any computerized Edge-to-Edge quilting design that I can download.  I have a tab on the menu that you can use to search for these designs, or if you prefer I can help you find one.  Please click here for those designs.

 – If you are shipping your T-Shirts to me, you will need to attach a safety-pin to the side of the shirt that you would like to be in the Quilt.  You will be responsible for the cost to ship to me, however I will pay to ship it back to you

 – All T-Shirts MUST BE WASHED AND CLEAN before sending/dropping them off to me.  I use a heat-press to attach a stabilizer to the back of your t-shirts, this heat WILL “set” any stains on your shirts.  Please DO NOT use any fabric softener if possible, I am sensitive to strong perfumes as I suffer from Migraines and would be most appreciative!! 🙂

 – Once you submit your T-Shirt order, you will receive a confirmation email and I will also receive a copy of your order. If you are local we can setup a convenient time for you to drop-off your t-shirts as well as discuss all the details.  If you are not local I will still contact you to confirm I received your order and then once I get your t-shirts I will arrange a time to discuss all the details with you.

 – I require a 50% deposit with your T-Shirt Quilt Order.  Once I have completed the quilt I will send you a final invoice for the remaining 50% and if applicable any additional charges.

 – If you are local I will arrange for a convenient time for you to pick it up.

 – If you are not local, when you ship it to me please put all your t-shirts into a plastic bag, print off your order form and include it in the plastic bag.  I recommend Insuring your package.  I use the cheapest UPS option to ship it back to you which includes $100.00 shipping insurance.  I am not responsible for any damage/loss/delays due to shipping either from you to me or from me to you.

 – I work on all T-Shirt Quilt orders in the order I receive them.  It generally takes between 2 to 3 weeks for me to complete a quilt, depending on the size of the quilt and how busy I am.  Please feel free to call me to see what my availability is when you are ready to order.

 – Please take a look at the chart below for sizing and pricing information.  Still have questions?  Please feel free to contact me either by email, phone or text.  I am always happy to help!
